DIRT THE SKIRT LEAGUE RULES
MODIFIED SLOW-PITCH

ASA Rules will govern with the following clarifications/modifications:

1. Each game will be seven innings.

2. Stealing is not permitted; however base runners may lead once the ball is released from the pitcher"s hand. If the hitter does not make contact, the ball is in play until it returns back to the pitching circle. Therefore, the base runner may be thrown out if she does not get back to the bag after the pitch reaches the catcher.

3. Bunting is permitted.

4. Sliding is optional in most cases; however, a base runner must slide in
order to avoid contact with a defensive player who is attempting to make a
play. If the base runner does not slide in that circumstance, the base
runner will be called out.

5. Eight players are required to start a game; seven players are required to
finish a game. No games may be rescheduled other than for weather related reasons.

6. There may be 10 players on the field, including a shortfielder.

7. There is a 5 run per inning rule, unless it is the last inning.  There is
no cap on the number of runs in the last inning or in extra innings.

8. There is no infield fly rule.

9. A pinch runner may be used only in the event of an injury to a base
runner.  The pinch runner must be the person who made the last out.

10. If a batter is hit by a ball, the pitch will be called a ball; the
batter will not advance to the base as a result of being hit.

11. If there is a tie score at the end of 7 innings, one extra inning will
be played with an international tie breaker (i.e. a runner which shall be the person who was the last batter in the previous inning starts on second
base for each team at the beginning of the inning). If the game remains tied after one extra inning, then the game will continue to be played international style until there is an ultimate winner.

12. Catchers must wear a mask and a skull cap.

13. Unsportsmanlike conduct is not acceptable or tolerated.  Anyone who intentionally tries to injure another player or otherwise engages in
unsportsmanlike conduct may be removed from the game or league in the discretion of the officers of the league.

14. Every player MUST play at least 3 innings in the field per game.

15. Players cannot overrun second or third base.  If they are tagged while off the base they will be called out.

16. Each base runner will advance one base on an overthrow.

17. Slow-pitch and fast-pitch bats which are ASA certified may be used with the EXCEPTION of (a) composite bats and (b) double-wall bats which are not permitted. The umpires are responsible for checking bats. DTS maintains the right to reject any bat in its sole discretion if such bat may impact safety of the participants.

18. Children are not allowed in the dugouts or on the field at any time.

19. There is no dropped third strike rule.
